Other recent vintages:  2015   2014   2013   2012   All vintages

It is often said that Chardonnay is a "neutral" grape, taking on characteristics from the terroir, the barrels used, or even the winemaker's personality! We tend to think that this wine reflects the informal elegance of the winelands. Cool, flinty, with just enough oomph to pair with roast chicken or your favorite stir-fry.

Viticulture

Planted in 2001 on the Northwestern slopes of the Simonsberg in well-drained Duplex soil containing granite. 6 tons/ha harvested at 23°B.

Winemaking

100% Chardonnnay. Double- sorted, lightly crushed, and placed in new French oak barrels for 6 months. pH 3.19, Alc. 13.5%, Sugar 1.7 g/l, Acid 6.8 g/l.

Tasting Notes

Golden honey hue, light oak aromas and flinty mineral notes. Subtle watermelon, apple, and pear.
